Will the Carolina Panthers dabble in free agency today?
Football season feels like it's getting underway when free agency opens, and the draft is around the corner. Beginning at 4 p.m. ET teams can begin finalizing some of these deals we heard about over the weekend, and rosters start to take shape for the 2013 season.
It's unlikely the Carolina Panthers will make any signings today. Last night Captain Munnerlyn said via his Twitter feed that he had a 'lifetime decision' to make. It remains to be seen whether that's staying in Carolina, leaving for another team, or deciding what to rent from Redbox.
If you're looking for a single free agent move that has the greatest impact on the Panthers' draft plans, cast an eye on Dwan Edwards. Brought in as a one-year stopgap, Edwards vastly exceeded all expectations in 2012. The Panthers are looking to re-sign him, but his career-best year could be enough to entice a team with more money. Carolina need more defensive tackles either way, but losing Edwards could force their hand a little earlier out of need.
