Chris McGrath
It's starting to make more and more sense for the Panthers to pursue DT Chris Canty. The pessimist in me though can't help but think that because it makes so much sense it therefore will not happen.
We can dream though right? I mean Canty, sure sounds like he wants to come 'home':
Chris Canty: I Would Take A Hometown Discount To Be A Panther « CBS Charlotte
When asked about what the future holds he said would love the chance to be a Panther and Thomas Davis sent him a text that said “its time for you to come home”.Chris did not see his release from the Giants coming and was caught off guard. He says you have to move forward and open a new chapter. He said he would be willing to take a hometown discount to play for the Panthers. He wants the chance to win another championship and the Panthers have a chance moving going forward with Cam Newton as the QB.
Thomas Davis sees it, I see it, you see it, we all see it. Alas, the damn salary cap is all that hinders us. Certainly new Panther GM Dave Gettleman is very familiar with what Canty can do. If we are not planning on going DT early in this draft Canty would be a nice addition up front with the current rotation (or whatever remains of it after the pending releases).
Ron Edwards at NG with Fua the back-up. Canty at the under tackle spot with Andre Neblett the back-up, provided we re-sign Neblett.
So what do you think?
