By shuffling money around, the Panthers were able to shed cap space while also keeping their Pro Bowl center happy. In order to get under the cap, more moves like this will definitely have to be made.
This is a good move for the Panthers as it frees up some desperately needed cap space while also keeping an important cog in the machine on the roster.
Kalil was given a $5M signing bonus for being willing to restructure, $4M of which came from dropping his base salary from $4.75M to $750K for the 2013 season.
While this restructure certainly helps the Panthers in their quest to be Salary Cap compliant, they still have a long way to go before they're able to be under the cap enough to add any necessary pieces to the roster.
