Ok, I'll say it....we have our tails between our legs. Last night was pretty terrible, the worst we've seen in a while. Through watching the entire game I recognized a stereotypical need on offense; the reason it is stereotypical is because it is a true need and everyone recognizes it. On Sunday night our WR's had zero separation, Cam would go through his reads and was doing a good job but none of his guys were open. This is a major problem that can be fixed in one off season.
I've seen a lot of mocks, a lot proposing to take multiple receivers, I would conclude the same juncture for our specific situation. While I know the Panthers work on the Best Player Available system I believe they should have their eyes on a few targets along the way. I anticipate the Panthers going either WR/RT in the 1st depending on BPA. In the second also depending on BPA it will be a combo of S/CB/WR. In the 3rd it will be CB/S. The 4th will be CB/S. In the 5th I think we will look TE/HB/OT. This brings us to the sixth round and the prospect I think the Panthers need to get well associated with.....Jeff Janis Senior WR from Saginaw Valley State.
Allow me to make you familiar with some of Mr. Janis' stats and measurables:
Production- 2013- Rec-106 Yards-1635 YPG-148.6 YPC-15.4 TD-17
Janis has the speed, the production (granted I will admit it is against D-2 competition), the size, and the hands to become a top NFL WR and due to the fact that he is at a small school he could fall right into our laps. This is a low-risk, high-reward situation that almost never happens in the NFL draft. If I'm Mr.G and this guys is still sitting in the 5th I'm taking him regardless of how many WR's I've already drafted.
