I was disappointed...yes, but there was something I saw tonight that made me extremely excited for the playoffs and the near future. First I must say I saw what appeared to be a dysfunctional defense; at some points one that looked like it didn't gameplan at all. I saw a terrible secondary that had to constantly commit penalties to even get a stop. I saw a defensive front that could get zero penetration at the point of attack. I saw an offensive line that couldn't hold their blocks. And finally I saw a bunch of mediocre receivers who couldn't get any separation.
Through all these negatives I saw tonight I saw one thing that gives me a ton of hope...the demeanor of Cam Newton. On a night where nothing could go right for our Panthers I saw who was the leader of this team, this is Cam's team. The only time I saw him frustrated was toward the end when his offensive line weren't listening to his adjustments at the line. Cam hung in there, he was positive. He didn't give up! Cam kept driving, kept trying, despite the fact that he was constantly being sacked, he was constantly having to wait for he receivers to get even the slightest hint of separation, and he constantly had the defense failing on him Cam hung in there and with 4 minutes to go he scored an incredible bullet touchdown to Steve Smith in double coverage.
Today might go down as a loss on paper and we may be disappointed, but mark my words this was a win for the Panthers organization. Today is the day that ownership of this team went into the hands of the man who is going to deliver it, and trust me he is up to the task. This is the point where we will look back and see even though that Saints game was hopeless Cam never gave up and fought every down through the adversity and hardships. My friends Cam Newton is fully and in every aspect a man and the leader, we have this at year 3 just imagine year 5! Trust me our Panthers will be playing deep in January this year and we will beat the Saints at home. I'm actually kind of happy we lost in a weird way because it allows us to re-group, fix our weaknesses, and much like the Ravens last year we can go in as the underdogs with momentum again. Watchout NFL because Cam's Panthers are here to stay.
