For fifteen weeks now, Sir Pour has been making recommendations for the Panthers games. These beers have run the gamut from light to dark, from hoppy and bitter to sweet and chocolatey, from low in alcohol to big, boozy monsters. We've seen some popular national beers and more obscure local ones, the latter of which might not be available to all of Panthers Nation (for we are legion).
So instead of recommending a single beer for this last game of the regular season, I want you to sound off in the comments by telling me your favorite local beer.
Your Local Beer - Hometown Brewery, Anytown, USA
The Brewery
Maybe it's brewed a block away. Maybe it's many miles. But chances are, there's a brewery near you turning out great, fresh beer, while doing their part to bring jobs and industry to their respective cities as well.
The Brew
One of the best things about the craft beer industry is the sheer diversity of beers. I firmly believe there's a style out there for everyone, and that you can usually get said style fresh from a local brewery is just icing on the cake.
How it relates to the game
After their season last year, the Atlanta Falcons surely didn't anticipate being 4-11 at this point in the season. Despite having one of the league's worst records, this is not a team you want to count out. The Panthers and several other teams may have blown the Falcons out earlier this season, but they've been playing markedly better as of late. In December, they had wins over the Bills and the Redskins. Sure, those aren't top tier teams, but Atlanta almost came away with victories against the Saints and, most recently, the 49ers.
Like so many Panthers teams in years past, the Falcons dug themselves a whole early on that they will not get out of. They may not have a chance at the playoffs, but they do have the chance to play spoiler to those that do. If anyone can appreciate that, it has to be Panthers fans.
So what's the best combatant against a spoiler? Freshness, of course. Grab the freshest beer you can find and give thanks that you can find quality beer in your backyard.
