I thought this write-up was on the money:
Week 16 NFL power rankings: Seahawks take top spot, Broncos drop - SBNation.com
4. Carolina Panthers Current Playoff Projection: NFC #5 seed (Wild Card) The defense was a little more lax than expected, but the Panthers still managed a comfortable home win against the Jets while no doubt giggling to themselves as the Saints dropped a game on the road. The offense was treated to the annual Random DeAngelo Williams 150-Yard Outburst while Greg Olsen continued to prove that he's the most reliable element in the Panthers' passing game. Carolina will be breathing fire this week to avenge their unsightly loss in the Superdome, and if they can further the Saints' road woes they'll be in prime shape to claim the division crown. (Last week: 6)
Once again I disagree with at least one of the teams ranked ahead of us:
The top 2 are my Super Bowl favorites (no homer) but having the 49ers above us makes no sense. Yes they beat the Seahawks in San Fran but we won in San Fran. I think we should be 3rd since we beat the #3 and #5 teams. I will continue to have patience though because I think when the final rankings come out after week 17 you will see the Panthers at #3.
