The Carolina Panthers opened with the biggest line of the weekend, favored by as many as 10.5 points -- according to OddsShark. Injuries have played their role, now the betting community has significantly less faith in Cam Newton and the Panthers.
Charles Johnson and DeAngelo Williams are likely the biggest reason the line has shrunk to -7.5. Truthfully, I wouldn't touch this game. The Panthers will have plenty to prove after coming out flat against Miami a week ago, but if they're without key players it becomes a game of wondering who will step up. This is further exascerbated by Darrelle Revis, who will likely be a game time decision.
If you absolutely need to place a bet on Sunday's game I'd consider looking at the over/under. It's currently set at 41.5, which could be quite low given the defensive players set to miss the game. Carolina doesn't have anyone to cover Vincent Jackson, and the Buccaneers might not have their top cornerback to shut down Steve Smith.
