I was arguing with my buddies. They want Seattle to win Monday. And as much as I hate the team, I want the aints to win.
Why? Because I want to win it all. Our Panthers are in control of their destiny for the second seed. We win out to go 13-3, and we have the second seed no matter what anyone else does. Every team already has four losses other than us, New Orleans, and Seattle. The Aints only need 2 losses to fall to four losses and a game behind us, and we can do that for ourselves.
The only thing for which we need help is the first seed. To get to see the NFC Championship right here in person in the ATM on Mint street, we do need help. We need Seattle to lose three times and we do not get to play them. We need other teams to do that for us. That is not likely, but if it does happen, it starts on Monday with the aints over Seattle. Then Seattle goes to San Fran, hosts the Giants, hosts the Cards, and goes to St. Louis. San Fran and the Cards is an outside shot, but not a hail mary (sorry about mixing metaphors).
A loss by the Aints to Seattle really does us very little good because ... this is important ... We lose the tiebreaker if we split with the aints. If they lose to Seattle, and split with us, and we are both 12-4, they get the tiebreaker. They would have a better record in common games and the conference. For the Panthers to win the division, the aints have to lose once to us and two others, or twice to us.
Bottom line, a Panther win on Sunday is enough for me. A Seattle loss is even better!
