Bored at work, quick mock draft

Well, all of us know our needs. We can argue and disagree about which positions we need help in the most. In the end, after the draft, I believe we will have a better team (Love Getts so far). We still don’t know our draft position, but I will do this one as if we were picking with the 24th pick. It will change, just a matter of how much. Also draft boards are going to drastically change after the Senior Bowl and combine. We could go all offensive positions but we also need more defensive depth and some more young guys to develop. Anyways, here are my thoughts as of now.

Round 1 – Eric Ebron - TE - UNC
I am kind of torn on this pick. I love Ebron, his size, speed combo, but I could also see us maybe reaching and grabbing Jordon Matthews (WR – Vanderbilt) or one of the top rated tackles if they drop, maybe Taylor Lewan or Cyrus Kouandjio.

Round 2 – David Yankey – OL – Stanford
Other people prefer Gabe Jackson or Cyril Richardson. Personally I like Yankey. He has starting experience in a pro offense and has played multiple positions across the offensive line. Other possibilities are a CB like Jason Verrett (if he drops), Kyle Fuller, or Justin Gilbert. If Jordon Matthews or Kyle Van Noy falls to us in the second, don’t be surprised if we take one of them.

Round 3 – Donte Moncrief – WR – Ole Miss

If he played on a team with a better QB, I believe his stock would be higher. I love his size, agility, and character. He is supposed to be one of the highest character guys in this draft. He might now be the fastest timed, but he has great football speed. Another possibility is taking another OL, maybe Xavier Su’a Filo.

Round 4 – Morgan Moses – OT – UVA

He is a quality offensive tackle at this point in the draft. He could possibly start at RT or just be depth

Round 5 – DeAndre Coleman – DL – Cal

Here is a Cal guy for Ron Rivera. He might need to develop some more, but he can be a good player to add to our DL rotation. Dwan Edwards will not be here forever and Colin Cole and a rental player.

Round 6 – Taylor Hart – DE – Oregon

For some reason he is slipping. He might not be flashy or have huge stats, but he is a presense along the line of scrimmage. He could lose a couple pounds and play at DE or even rotate inside to under tackle. Make something (DL) that is strong even stronger.

Round 7 (I think this is all we got from the Beason trade) Michael Campanero – WR – Wake Forest

Great slot receiver and value pick. He broke his collarbone a month or so ago, but he should heal fine.

FA – Ben Gardner – DE – Stanford

Tore his pectoral muscle this year and is out for the year. He might fall out of the draft after this. He is a monster when he does play though. Maybe we could score and pick him up after the draft.
