At or near the beginning of this season a lot of CSR members were calling for Rivera to get fired. A lot has changed since then. We have gone from 1-3 to 6-3. Lets assume we continue winning, and make it up to 10 wins this season. At that point, how many people still think Rivera should be fired? Lets now take it a step further. Rivera has another year on his contract. If you are not for firing him with a 10 win season, are you willing to extend his contract after one 10 win season? In my opinion, if he wins 10 games he should stay for his final season. Around game 6 of next season, if he is doing well, I would extend him right then. A lot of people might say you don't let a coach go into his final season without a contract unless you plan to let him go at the end of it, and I have been told no team does that, but I would do it anyway. Rivera has the locker room. If he tells them they are playing for his job, I don't think they are going to think to themselves "he is a lame duck and I am not risking myself for him". I think they will play their butts off trying to secure his job and their own jobs. So tell me, what are your thoughts on this subject?
