Amini Silatolu tore his ACL in the Carolina Panthers loss to the Arizona Cardinals and will miss the remainder of the 2013 season.
Silatolu overcame a rough start to the season to become one of the Panthers best offensive linemen. He graded as the team's best run blocker, and made strides as a pass protector while playing with Jordan Gross on the left side. It's oddly appropriate he would be done for the year just when Silatolu started to put it together, such is life for the 2013 Panthers.
It's expected Travelle Wharton will fill in at left guard for the remainder of the season. Wharton has been terrible in relief, but is the last player available who understands the offense. He will pair with Chris Scott on the right side to form a scary duo of guards expected to protect Cam Newton, who was sacked seven times on Sunday.
Rivera said that offensive line depth is an issue and something the team needs to work on, but this has been an ongoing issue for months without any sense of urgency from the organization.
