Rams DE Chris Long drew the stiffest fine at $15k for his punch. A couple Panther players drew fines as well:
Game between St. Louis Rams, Carolina Panthers draws $47,250 in fines from NFL - ESPN
A pair of receivers -- Carolina's Steve Smith and St. Louis' Brian Quick -- were fined $7,875 for striking an opponent in the face. Also docked $7,875 were Rams guard Harvey Dahl for a late hit and Panthers safety Mike Mitchell for taunting.
The Mitchell fine has to be just because of the timing of the taunting, coming right after Sam Bradford hurt his knee. We all know he had no idea how severe Bradford was hurt.
I assume the Steve Smith fine was for when he hit Jenkins int he grill but the refs never saw it.
This reminds me, Smitty was never penalized for his comments about the refs after the Cardinals game. His luck ran out I guess in that regard.
I completely missed the announcement that Smith was fined for dissing the refs:
Steve Smith of Carolina Panthers fined for comments about official - ESPN
"To be honest, I make enough money where if Roger [Goodell] wants to fine me, he can," Smith said at the time, referring to NFL commissioner Roger Goodell. "I really think that referee probably was the sorriest referee I have ever met."
He also called the ref 'garbage'. That's two fines in seven games (.28 fpg), a little above his of .25 fines per game career average. ;)
Hat tip to Spanglerb for bringing this to my attention.
