STORY TIME! A native North Carolinian (Go Wolfpack), I spent my formative years, 1987-2001, in Charlotte and was the proud owner of a junior-size John Kasay jersey ("was" because my mom gave it go Goodwill many years ago... [sheds tear]). During early construction of then Ericsson Stadium, six-year-old me was able to get on the field just as the final bleachers were going up (and the field was still rocks). Somewhere, there's a Polaroid of my brother and I hiking rocks to one another out of the shotgun formation. On December 20, 1997 I saw Journeyman Collins throw 3-picks at home against St. Louis, ultimately benching himself for the roller coaster that was Steve Beuerlein. This was my last Panthers game. In 2001 we moved to the wilds of Virginia with my dad's work.
HOMECOMING IS HERE. I talked a buddy (who is a Georgia native and... Falcons fan...) into making a pilgrimage from Richmond, VA to Charlotte for the Falcons game next weekend. To say I'm giddy is an understatement. I still can't decide if I'm wearing 89 or 1 (Hint: Smitty). With that said, I need the help of loyal CSR readers in knowing how to 'do it right' on Gameday.
Any hints/tricks/tips are greatly encouraged. We're getting in Saturday afternoon and hitting up Carolina Ale House to watch N.C. State v. University of Northern California and UGA v. Flo Rida. Sunday, it's an early-morning load up of Bojangles and craft beer then park and consume. Section 542 will be home base, but I want to ensure I hit everything I need to before, during, and after the game. Thank you in advance, Panther Nation.
I look forward to this Panther Homecoming being one for the record books. Can't wait to see you all and bask in a little WINNING RECORD glory.
