Lets just put it out there for those of us who lost some faith (at times namely myself) in the preseason and early weeks of the regular season we are finally seeing early blossoms of fruition of Mr. Gettleman and CO.'s roster moves. The recent signing of the WR King essentially gave us a 2013 6th rounder with potential for essentially nothing.
I believe in Mr.G's wisdom we will continue to get younger and stronger as the year goes on, with that being said we need to add some insurance policies:
#1 add Sam Montgomery. He is a 3rd rounder!!! I don't care if he's over-rated or has character-issues, put him on a short leash and if he steps out again cut him! He would cost us chump change and could be a force in the future. Lets not forget he could be good leverage in the Hardy dealings also! Think about the positives here people, here is the third rounder we didn't have this past draft and if he doesn't pan out its no hurt to us!
#2 add Cierre Wood and drop Armond Smith. All Smith has done is cost us penalty yards and fumbles. I know, I know this is another "character-issue Houston Texan reject" but yet if he makes a wrong move we cut him with no repercussions on our part. Not only is this guy a speedy runner he can also pass catch out the backfield extremely effectively. Wood would provide the depth and reliability we need at the HB position plus he could be extra insurance if Stewart ever gets traded (which I hope he doesn't) or Kenjon Barner doesn't work out.
#3 absolutely, positively, indefinitely do not, again, do not trade any one or any picks for Nicks! I know it sounds fun and wonderful now but in the short run (not even the long run!) we will hate it in May when we would of had the opportunity to pick up a new talented WR, OT, or CB with more potential than Hicks while we'll be waiting to see if he has recovered from his most recent injury. It will happen Mr. G just don't do it!
Kudos to Mr. G, Cam, Smitty, DWill, Luke, Kraken, CJ, TD, and Star for making it to .500, I believe this is the year we begin to right the ship! Also congrats to Ron Rivera for riding along, hopefully it will help his job search!
Keep Pounding Pathers!!!
