Tampa Bay Buccaneers' running back Doug Martin miss the remainder of the 2013 season with a torn labrum.
Initially the injury wasn't believed to be severe, but it's now clear that he will miss the remainder of the season vs. having a small possibility to play in Thursday night football. It's a devestating loss for the Buccaneers in a terrible season, but there are some football realities to address.
Without Martin there's no clear way Tampa Bay can balance its offense. Mike Glennon has shown flashes in 2013, but he's still a rookie that doesn't handle pressure particularly well yet. This means the Panthers defense can tee off on the quarterback with impunity and without the threat of having Martin bounce runs to the outside.
The flip side of the loss is that there's no way of knowing how the Buccaneers will operate on offense without Martin, making watching film difficult. This is a small silver lining for Tampa Bay however, as fans hope the season comes to an end soon.
