Rams QB Sam Bradford Has Torn ACL

Streeter Lecka

The Rams' worst fears have been confirmed. QB Sam Bradford has a torn ACL from landing awkwardly after being pushed out of bounds by Panthers S Mike Mitchell.

Some are calling it an 'unnecessary' push by Mitchell but there was nothing illegal or cheap about it if you watch the replay. (link below)

Added safety Mike Mitchell, who probably ended Bradford's season with an unnecessary hit and then celebrated in front of the Rams while Bradford was writhing in pain, "We did a good job of being the more composed team. We had to play disciplined. They wanted to try to pick a fight with us."

It was freak injury and certainly fot intentional from Mitchell's standpoint. Those Rams fans that think Mitchell was celebrating Bradford's injury are also reading way too much into. There is no way Mitchell could have know Bradford was seriously injured, all he did was push him out of bounds. Brian Baldinger obviously favored the Rams in this piece though, saying the Panthers were the instigators. Sorry but I was there and saw this feud brewing early, which started when Robert Quinn laid a very 'unnecessary' hit on Cam Newton if we are going to pick a nit.

Now I will say it is the ref's job to keep things from getting out of hand like it did and maybe the Panthers did deserve an added penalty or 2, like Smitty taunting Jenkins after the TD. But it was the Rams that came in trash-talking and laying hits trying to intimidate the Panthers and QB Cam Newton. Rather than taking it though they responded:

Said cornerback Captain Munnerlyn, "It was a great bonding game. We kept our heads. Sometimes you have to step away in this game and don't get a personal foul." Added safety Mike Mitchell, who probably ended Bradford's season with an unnecessary hit and then celebrated in front of the Rams while Bradford was writhing in pain, "We did a good job of being the more composed team. We had to play disciplined. They wanted to try to pick a fight with us."

I'm very sorry to hear of Bradford's injury. I'm sure I speak for 99% of CSR when I say we hope he has a speedy recovery and the Rams can go on and win their remaining NFC South match-ups.
