If you haven’t heard already, the New York Jets are shopping Darrelle Revis around the league. It seems like the Jets want a first round pick for him.
The Panthers could possibly release Chris Gamble this offseason to save cap space. That would leave a pretty big hole at the cornerback spot. In the NFC South, which features star receivers like Julio Jones, Roddy White and Vincent Jackson, Revis would fill that void at cornerback. It would allow Defensive Coordinator Sean McDermott to be more creative with his blitz packages, and this move could really take the Panthers top 10 defense and push them over the top, and make them one of the best in the league.
Revis is coming off of an ACL injury, but don’t let that fool you. He’s 27 years old, and is the best cornerback in the league. For only a first round pick (the Panthers pick is 14th overall), I think he could be a bargain.
