Oh Captain, my Captain...
It is customary around the league for players to vote for their captains. The 2012 Carolina Panthers have elected the following players as captains:
Offense:
WR Steve Smith
OT Jordan Gross
Defense:
LB Jon Beason
LB Thomas Davis
Special Teams
LB Jordan Senn
No real surprises here. Like me, you might be left wondering when Cam will officially be a captain. It would make sense to make that rather seamless transition after Smith or Gross retires.
Aside from Senn, these are all the same captains as last season. Assuming they all stay healthy (which is probably a rather dangerous assumption), they could be penciled in for several more years, as well.
