I think one of the problems with our offensive struggles is we're trying to get too creative. The option read and triple option and quarterback runs are all great, to an extent. I really feel like these things worked so well last year because Cam Newton was a new quarterback and no defense really knew what he was going to bring. They didn't foresee him being able to pass so well which is why in the early game guys were wide open deep. But now, defenses know what to expect from Cam Newton. They know what style of offense he is going to bring and they key on him. This causes us to get stopped in the back field a lot for a loss of yards. I think we need to have more of a pro style offense and then maybe go to a read option once or twice a game. If we lined up under center and handed the ball of to Deangelo and attacked the Dline, we definitely would have had more than 10 yards rushing against Tampa Bay.
