Hello everyone. We play a thursday night game (bleh), so we'll all have an accelerated schedule.
I personally am a fan of Thursday Night Football when it is not my team. As you may have heard, the home teams on thursday night have some ridiculous winning percentage (I think > 80%), which you could also say tempers my enthusiasm for this game.
But hey who cares. Football's football, and so far this season has been crazy.
Please ask any and all questions you have and me and my fellow Giant fans of the interwebz will do our best to answer them. But first, some quick stats
The Giants and Panthers have played 6 regular season games (an even 3-3 split) and 1 playoff game (won by the Panthers in the 2005 season). In the Manning-Coughlin era (which has spanned the John Fox - Jake Delhomme/MattMoore era), the Giants are 3-2 (including 0-1 in the playoffs). Tom Coughlin was also the Head Coach of the Jaguars for two wins vs the Panthers in 1996 and 1999, making his record as HC vs the Panthers 5-2 all time. This will be the first Giants-Panthers game of the Rivera-Newton era.
The Giants and Panthers have had some memorable games, including the 2008 thriller to determine the #1 seed (I still see Ward gashing you guys on shotgun draws in my dreams sometimes), and the 2010 opening of the New Meadowlands Stadium.
I obviously remember nothing about the 2005 playoff game or the Giants Stadium closing beat down of 09.
Taking a quick look at your roster, I cannot say I recognize any players on the Panthers that were once on the Giants.
Last week's pseudo-Hero, Andre Brown, had a cup of tea with you guys in 2010. Back ups Stevie Brown and David Carr have also spent some time on the Carolina roster at some time.
May the best team win and no injuries!!
