The word is Jonathan Stewart is back in practice so that has to be good news. I'm not so sure Stewart would have made a difference last week but I would still prefer to have it out there regardless.
Jonathan Stewart back at Panthers practice after missing Week 1 - NFL.com
Stewart says he's "making progress" in rehab and is "optimistic" he'll play Sunday in Carolina's home opener Sunday against the New Orleans Saints.
I notice he says there is no way he could have played last week. If that is the case then we need to temper our expectations as I can't see him making that much improvement in a week. He might need another week but I'll remain hopeful.
Not enough good news for you? How about the fact we played a rookie 5th round CB and he didn't get burned long?
We also had a rookie punt returner that played. We also had a rookie punter who...errr, wait, Never mind
Okay... I have a good one to be positive about: The philosophy of our coach:
Panthers still boiling from Saints' disrespect | CharlotteObserver.com
"It’s a philosophy. It’s an attitude. And that’s what his is," Panthers coach Ron Rivera said of Payton. "So he coaches that way and they play that way. My attitude and my philosophy is win the football game, and then be smart about the next week. That’s just the way I look at it, a difference in philosophy."
Well that is about a big a swipe as I would ever expect Rivera to take at another coach. Though I hope if faced with the decision to run up the score this Sunday he won't hesitate. It is still early in the season after all.
