Dozens of "fans" were taken to area hospitals early Monday morning as they were injured jumping off of the Carolina Panthers bandwagon after the team’s 16-10 loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. As of 1:00 pm most were released with minor injuries, but at least five people remained hospitalized for observation with what is described as "minor head trauma."
All of those injured tried to get off the bandwagon while it, and the rest of the Panthers' disappointed fans, were moving on to next Sunday’s game against the Saints.
More After Jump . . .
The blogosphere was filled with the last messages from the former fans.
"This is it, no team in the history of sports has ever posted a winning season after losing their first game." wrote SportsID10T, who obviously never heard of the 2011 or 2007 Giants.
KneeJerk2012 wrote, "If you ignore all of my posts saying the Panthers will win the Super Bowl, you’ll see I said they never stood a chance."
Meanwhile, more levelheaded fans are sticking with the team. With most agreeing that, while there is cause for concern, there were also some positives. As a whole, they are looking forward to their next game hopeful that the coaching staff can use this first game as a learning experience for this young Panthers squad.
