"Redskins and Patriots fans: Come down to _____ on Sunday to watch your teams and cheer with other fans!"
This is a local radio ad running in the Greensboro area. When I first heard it I was admittedly disappointed, but it was expected. One of the best bars in the area has devoted themselves to being a Washington and New England bar. Another in town is home to the local Pittsburgh Steelers fan-club, and yet another is bombarded with Saints fans each game.
Most of the time this is due to ownership having the predispositions, and that's okay– I don't mind there being other fan-bars in towns across North and South Carolina, but you better believe there needs to be Carolina Panthers bars first. This is our local version of establishing an 'our house' mentality, and for a while the editorial staff has discussed the need to establish Carolina Panthers home bars/places where CSR members can meet up for games if they so desire.
More after the jump
Here's where you come in. As some may know I'm based out of Greensboro, NC, and the rest of our editors are spread all around North and South Carolina. We know our own areas, but it would be hubris to speak to areas we don't really know about.
In the comments I'd like to hear from you. Do you know of an already established, pro-Panthers bar in your area? Are you a bar owner, manager, or know someone willing to turn into one on gamedays? We want to hear from you. The idea is that we crowd-source a definitive list of the best places to watch Carolina football on Sundays.
Obviously we want as many as possible to cater to as many fans, but ideally I'd like to see them in the following:
NC
- Charlotte
- Piedmont Triad
- Triangle
- Wilmington
- Asheville
- Greenville
SC
- Charleston
- Greenville
- Columbia
- Rock Hill
- Mount Pleasant
- Summerville
As I said, we obviously want as many as possible, so sound off in the comments. Ideally I'd like just one subject line for each area, and from there locals can agree/disagree/debate over which place should be named. Ultimately I'd like there to be established locations starting week one of the regular season.
