So talk about a roller coaster of emotions. This time last week I was angry, upset, frustrated at the Panther's first outing against the Texans. This week I feel the complete opposite.. Elated, excited, ecstatic. I know this is only a pre season game but as ive stated in last week's post, pre season is like a really good movie trailer. A trailer's job is to get you pumped and excited for whats to come once it hits the big screen. I felt last week's outing against the Texans was more like a trailer for a bad Tyler Perry movie.. This week's outing was more like a Christopher Nolan flick. This latest preview of the Panthers not only made me want to see the movie opening day but to get there a few days early and camp out so I can be sure to get the best seat in the house.
Well for starters our offense looked stellar. The oline gave Cam until next season to complete passes and they also did a magnificent job opening up lanes for our stud RBs. The way Cam was able to spread the ball around to so many targets it was almost like when Jesus fed thousands with just two fish (ok a bit extreme but you get my point). Cam looked like a Tom Brady in that pocket and he was on target. I loved the attitude and this offensive unit certainly passed the eye test as well.
Oh and that defense. The defense looked so good lastnight that I almost wanted to double check the DVR and make sure I wasnt watching a game from 2003. I honestly lost all hope for defense but after lastnight's stellar showing, im starting to believe again. The defense lastnight reminded me of the stout defenses you see out of the Ravens and 49ers. Kuechly looked great, and Charles Johnson oh my. Mcclain really stepped up and showed good flashes and Norman stayed on his guy well and didnt have any passes thrown his way.
Now I know this was a pre season game but lastnight was special, it seemed more than that. Lastnight we might have finally see us putting it all together as a cohesive unit. Oh and I think Medlock should win the starting job. Its not about who has a better pre season its about trust, Mare has already shown to choke in critical situations and Medlock has a super leg and seems to be a smooth operator. I think if its a tie, Medlock should win by default.
