Let's have a little fun, shall we? For the past week, I've been putting some real thought in coming up with an appropriate nickname for one of the newest Panthers. Yes, he is a rookie, and his name is Luke Kuechly. Some of you may protest giving this young man something so distinct as a nickname before he even plays his first regular season game, and I get it. I've had my own reservations. But the writing is already on the wall as far as I'm concerned. It seems inevitable that he is going to be special, and this would be the perfect time to zero in on a nickname that the CSR fan community could call their own.

After the jump, you will find a list of suggestions that sounded catchy to me. Keep in the mind that there will be a poll, so don't hesitate to let your vote be known. If you don't like any of my options, feel free to vote 'Other-Reveal Below', and let us all know what you think his nickname should be in the comment section that follows. If nothing sticks, so be it. I thoroughly enjoyed brainstorming, and I hope you do as well. See you on the other side.

Before I go any further, I must let you know that his head coach at Boston College called him "Boy Wonder"(which seems suitable for a college player, but not for someone who is now playing a man's game) and the "The Human Eraser". His teammates also referred to him as "Superman" at times. None of these are on my list because I want it to be exclusive(initially) to the CSR community. Here we go, in no particular order:

1. Luke "Clark Kent" Kuechly

Various media outlets have used this common nickname for Kuechly from time to time, and it makes some sense. When Kuechly is suit and spectacle clad, it's easy to think of Superman's alter ego. His humble, straight-laced, and courteous demeanor also mirrors Clark Kent as well, which could make this nickname the perfect fit, but I'm not so sure. Frankly, I'm not a big fan of this one for a couple of reasons.

First of all, the comparison is a bit off. Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't Clark Kent portrayed as being a bit clumsy? Kuechly surely doesn't seem to possess this dubious attribute on or off the field.

Secondly, this nickname just doesn't jive with the fact someone else on this roster has already claimed the distinction of turning into Superman on game day.

2. Luke "Superfreak" Kuechly

Go ahead. Say it out loud. There's a rhyming element to it, and that is enough to make it on my short list.

3. Luke "Play of the Week" Kuechly

Luke "Play of the Week" Kuechly. Another rhyming nickname that I like.

4. Luke "The Prodigy" Kuechly

Luke "The Prodigy" Kuechly. Love it. Might just be the perfect description.

5. "Doctor Luke" Kuechly

This might be my favorite. Doctor Luke Kuechly MD(Master of Diagnosis)

6. Luke "The Finisher" Kuechly

Simple. Concise. The initial indications are pointing to a linebacker who will be putting an end to many a play in his career. May be a bit overused though.

7. Luke "The Obliterator" Kuechly

An obliterator is someone who utterly destroys. Sounds good to me.

8. Luke "Kibosh" Kuechly

Kibosh means to dispose of decisively or to put an end to. Not only is this a good description, but the K's give this nickname a nice rhythmic flow.

9. Luke "Ain't No Fluke" Kuechly or Luke "No Fluke" Kuechly

Another nickname that has that rhyming element. I like it.

10. Luke "The Liquidator" Kuechly

Although liquidate is most often used to describe a financial transaction, it can also describe something/someone that is broken up or done away with. This term may just suit Kuechly perfectly.

I look forward to seeing the poll results, along with any new and different nickname ideas that come to light in the comment section that follows.
