It's no secret around here that I have a man crush on Jared Green. A few months ago I made a post about why I and how I think Green can develop into a pro bowl player eventually. I still think that and it appears as though the coaching staff could be thinking the same thing. During a training camp session Green made a wonderful play, due to work I wasn't there that day but word is he burned our secondary and pulled in a deep bomb by Cam in the end zone, not only that he has also hauled in a few other impressive catches and he clearly is living up to expectations as far as speed is concerned.
Don't take my word for it. Here is quote coach Rivera said about Green yesterday.. YOUNG STANDOUTS: Wideout Jared Green has hauled in several deep throws since the start of camp and his down field work has caught the eye of the coaching staff.
"We've seen the vertical speed, and we've seen improvement from when he first got here - from the first day of rookie camp - all the way through to now," Rivera said. "That's what we're looking for from our young players, that they show they can grow and become effective players for us.
He also went on to say; "We've seen the improvement from Jared. He's gotten better and better. He's making the effort, making the commitment to try to be a part of this team as we go forward."
Now don't get me wrong, I am in no way saying Green is going to be the Cam Newton of WR's and come out his rookie year breaking records and winning offensive rookie of the year. Yes I know there is just one impressive workout You Tube video of him, but in that video his amazing route running, speed and his cutting ability along with overall fluidity is on display and we lack that one WR aside from Smitty that can give defensive backs fits because of their uncanny speed and I still think Green can be that guy.
