So What Will Chudzinski Do for an Encore?

Stay connected for news and updates

The Panther players on offense have all been very focal about one thing during these recent OTA's, they are excited to see what OC Rob Chudzinski has up his sleeve this season. Most didn't expect him to be back as certainly a team needing a HC would grab up the offensive 'wizard'. After all he did take the NFLs worst offense in 2010 (and it wasn't even close) and turn it into a top 10 unit practically overnight. Now certainly QB Cam Newton had a lot to do with that but do not under estimate the impact of the game plan as well.

"His flexibility, his versatility and what he can do from parts that he's able to work into his existing philosophy," TE Greg Olsen said. "There's not a lot of guys like that around the league that are willing to make some changes and put a few wrinkles in."

Now the question is what will Chudzinski do this year for an encore. "I don't know, I'm going to have to watch a few more movies to see if I can figure one out," Chudzinski said with a laugh.

He's just being humble because we already know WR Steve Smith told him he would need time to absorb some of the new alignments and plays that have already been rolled out. Apparently he's been rolling out new plays every week of OTA's:

Coach (Rob) Chudzinski, we call him the ‘mad scientist.’" Ryan Kalil said. "It’s not going to be the same offense. He’s always creating new ideas." The Panthers "Annexation of Puerto Rico" play from "The Little Giants" comes to mind in the mad scientist category

The 'Annex' play must be the play where Richie Brockel scored last season, a play designed to create confusion based on misdirection. It worked like a charm. A charm created by a Mad Scientist!

Me personally, I want to see more wildcat formations and see if Cam can catch a TD pass. Has any player ever passed, ran and caught a TD in a single game? I bet Cam can. So what do you think Chud will do for an encore in 2012?
