Pro Football Talk posted the league wide salary cap space a couple days ago and thought we should do a NFC South showcase. The number is based on the highest paid 51 players on the roster so the number is close but not exact at this point. As it turns out the Panthers are not as bad off as we might expect:
Bucs $15.74M (all numbers are amount under the cap)
Panthers $8.76M
Falcons $2.83M
Saints $2.27M
So those numbers would suggest the Panthers have the space to make another move in free agency if they feel they see a player that could help. Instead we could go ahead and lock up RB Jonathan Stewart to a new contract as well. A 3rd option could be to carry over the money as I believe the new CBA allows some carry over.
