Steve Smith To HOF???Possibly

Steve Smith would clearly be the first "only Panther" to get into the Hall Of Fame, but he'd have to continue to play at a consistant level to get there. Smith has been in the league for 12 years and has always played with a lot of energy and although he's 33 he has showed he's still a top 10 receiver. He's stated that he wants to play in the league atleast three or four more years so lets take a look at his total stats.

Total Yards: 10,278
Total TDS: 59
Total REC: 699(Longest being 80)
Total Games: 151
Total Receiving First Downs: 434

As A Return Man
Total Yards: 1,652
Total TDS: 4
Total Attempts: 178
Total Games: 120
Longest Punt Return: 87 Yards

Judging by the imformation provided by his stat sheet on espn.com he's had a pretty good career also being featured in a superbowl. Now that you have seen the numbers provided I will predict and calculate what his career stats could look like in a couple of years(fun part). So currently he's already the 36th receiver to pass the 10,000th mark and currently hold all of our Panthers receiving records. If Smitty continues to put up 1,000 receiving yards over the next three seasons his total yards will jump from 10,278 to 13,278 which places him infront of Hines Ward. Thats not to bad and if he continues to put up 1,000 receiving yards over the next four seasons it could jump from 10,278 to a total of 14,278 which would put him right behind Randy Moss. Lets make an educated guess and say Smitty continues to put up numbers similar to his 2011 year at a total of 1,394. Adding up his 2011 numbers over three seasons would give us a total of 14,460. While over the next four season it could be 15,854. Those are incredible numbers and me personaly can see Smitty do it I think we all can. Those are Hall Of Fame numbers and he would deffinately get in. I just don't see him slowing down while having a quarterback like Cam throwing him the ball. So keep playing with the numbers and you will see how easy it could be and how close Smitty is to becoming a Hall Of Famer. So lets just pray that Smitty continues to KEEP POUNDING. I love you Panther Nation.
