Update: Let's Talk Fantasy Football: 12 Team League Settings

J-Stew says: Put me down for 1,100 yards and 12 TDs Jaxon!

Editor Update: Once reading your feedback on this topic I realized quickly that I should have adjusted all of the roster settings to a 12 team league since that is most likely how we will set up our leagues again this year.

Let's talk fantasy football league settings. Last season we had seven leagues going and honestly we didn't talk about the settings in advance. I pretty much went with the default settings with a few special Jaxon tweaks. So I'm thinking we could customize the league settings based on popular opinion and sound reasoning I'm sure.

So I've copies the settings from my ESPN league but changed it to 12 teams to serve as the baseline using performance scoring. For those that care chime in and let me know what settings you would change and why you would make the change. I'll try to explain the more significant settings.

Current Roster Size: 14 - Eight starters defined below with 6 bench players.

Total Starters: 8

Total On Bench: 6 with limits by position specified below

POSITION STARTERS / MAXIMUM Allowed on roster...after the jump...

Quarterback (QB) 1 / 3

Running Back (RB) 1 / 5

Running Back/Wide Receiver (RB/WR) 1 N/A

Wide Receiver (WR) 2 / 6

Tight End (TE) 1 / 2

Team Defense/Special Teams (D/ST) 1 / 2 - I'm torn on this one as I love to stash defenses but with 12 teams there just isn't enough defenses to go around

Place Kicker (K) 1 / 2

Bench (BE) 6 N/A

So here is one of the bigger questions. How do you weight the quarterback?

Every 20 25 passing yards (PY25) 1 TD Pass (PTD) 4 6

I changed this from 20 yards passing per point and 4 points per TD to the current setting. I like giving premium to the QB that throws it in the end zone versus gets yardage over TDs.

I like the performance settings but I extend the yardage requirements to 40 and 60 yards.

40+ yard TD pass bonus (PTD40) 2 60+ yard TD pass bonus (PTD50) 2

Interceptions Thrown (INT) -2 2pt Passing Conversion (2PC) 2

400+ yard passing game (P400) 2

Every 10 rushing yards (RY10) 1 TD Rush (RTD) 6

40+ yard TD rush bonus (RTD40) 2 60+ yard TD rush bonus (RTD50) 3

2pt Rushing Conversion (2PR) 2 200+ yard rushing game (RY200) 2

Every 10 receiving yards (REY10) 1 TD Reception (RETD) 6

40+ yard TD rec bonus (RETD40) 2 2pt Receiving Conversion (2PRE) 2

200+ yard receiving game (REY200) 2

Kickoff Return TD (KRTD) 6 Punt Return TD (PRTD) 6

Fumble Recovered for TD (FTD) 6 Total Fumbles (FUM) -2

Total Fumbles Lost (FUML) -2

Each PAT Made (PAT) 1 FG Made (0-39 yards) (FG0) 3

FG Made (40-49 yards) (FG40) 4 FG Made (50+ yards) (FG50) 5

FG Missed (0-39 yards) (FGM0) -2 FG Missed (40-49 yards) (FGM40) -1

Team Defense / Special Teams

Each Sack (SK) 1 Interception Return TD (INTTD) 3

0 points allowed (PA0) 10 1-6 points allowed (PA1) 7

7-13 points allowed (PA7) 4 14-17 points allowed (PA14) 1

22-27 points allowed (PA22) -1 28-34 points allowed (PA28) -4

35-45 points allowed (PA35) -7 46+ points allowed (PA46) -10

Less than 100 total yards allowed (YA100) 2 100-199 total yards allowed (YA199) 1
