Brandon LaFell: The most clutch player on the Panthers?

With all this talk on the Panthers releasing WR's to bring in more WR's, and some of our fans' little faith in our WR group (besides Smitty of course), I've decided to put together a short video showing why Brandon LaFell, In my honest opinion, is not only the next great WR of the Carolina Panthers, but the most clutch player on the team.

This video was made by me, but a very special thanks to Valleythunder35 for helping me out with finding some of the best quality clips (explaining the "Valleythunder35" watermark..) If you enjoy my videos, subscribe him and check him out at

I will explain why in timeline style....after the jump

So why do i have so much faith in him and call him the most clutch? Well lets start here...

October 24th, 2010 - Panthers V.S. 49ers - Brandon LaFell, playing with Matt Moore as his QB, has his first big game. Sure, 6 catches for 91 yards isn't Smitty numbers, but the fact that David Gettis reeled in 8 receptions for 125 yard and 2 TD's meaning together, a combined 14 receptions for 216 yards and 2 touchdowns against a Defense, who believe it or not took their team to a 13-3 record and the NFC Championship a short year later. As you saw earlier in that video, Mr. LaFell caught and tiptoed a deep pass near the sideline, which would set up a David Gettis touchdown a few plays later. Note that during that game, Smith had only 4 catches for 40 yards.

October 31st, 2010 - Panthers @ Rams - Brandon LaFell didn't have a big number day, but did score his first career touchdown after breaking a tackle and outrunning 3 defender 20 yard from the endzone. Most laugh at the word Rams...but i believe they almost made the playoffs this year, and had a top 10 defense in 2010.

November 28th, 2010 - Panthers @ Browns - Most of you remember this play. Game hanging on the line, Jimmy Clausen at QB, throws a horrible pass off of his backfootdown down by 3 point with less than a minute left...Brandon LaFell comes out of now where, diving towards the ball and staying inbounds before rolling out. One of the nicest/most clutch catches i've ever seen come from a Panthers uniform...Kasay would then miss the FG to win the game, and we would come up short with the great effort given from LaFell.

2010 Season Ends - 2-14 Record - Fans are high on David Gettis, not to sure about LaFell

Training Camp 2011 - David Gettis tears ACL - Fans are heartbroke and now panicking over WR situation.

September 11th, 2011 - Panthers @ Cardinals - LaFell comes out of the gate with 70 yards receiving on only 4 receptions, making some nice moves to get first downs, or some nice diving or sideline catches with Cam at the helm.

September 18th, 2011 - Panthers V.S. Packers - Defending Superbowl Champs are almost knocked off as Lafell makes one amazing TD catch, and an amazing sideline catch with the game once again on the line setting us up for a chance to comeback.

December 24th, 2011 - Panthers V.S. Bucs - LaFell gets his first 100 yard game as he connects with Cam on the longest passing play in Panthers history - 91 yards - and takes it to the house...thanks to Smitty's block!

So those are some of the key dates for LaFell throughout his career thus far. Some may agree with me that he is the most clutch player, because of the amazing ammount of sideline catches, game on the line acrobats, or amazing touchdowns. I only expect better, especially if Gettis can come back this year and do at least half of what he did his rookie season. Keep Pounding Panther fans, and be sure to comment and vote your opinion!
