I give props to Joe Person for a nice piece on the layers of new plays the Panthers are installing in the offense during their offseason exercises. It's so complex Jordan Gross says it feels like an in-season download in preparation for the next regular season game:

"You’d think that between him and McDermott, we’re getting ready for the Super Bowl," Gross said. "They’re drawing up protections to stop McDermott’s blitzes, and McDermott’s drawing blitzes to beat our protections. There’s game-planning going on now. It’s good. It feels kind of like an in-season install."
I love the fact that our two coordinators are essentially challenging each other. Imagine watching them play Madden against each other. Who would win? But I digress...
Jordan goes on to give some detail on the offenses'complexity and the impact its having on his writing hand:
"I’ve already been through one (notebook), and I’m working my way through my second," Gross said Tuesday after the Panthers’ first minicamp practice. "It’s hard to make people realize how much we’re putting in and how complex what we’re doing is. That’s just going to lead to us being a more attacking offense and giving defenses a lot to handle."
I like the sound of that though I'm sure the rookies are quite as enamored. But hey, they don't know any better either so as far as they know this is just an average NFL playbook. Little do they know it an elaborate plan to take over and dominate the NFL! Boy I would love to get my hands on Gross' notes.
