Bruce Feldman (at cbssports.com) has posted an article today ("The Freak List: The 10 Crazist Athletes in College Football") listing the top 11 freak athletes who might be in the 2013 draft. Here are some of the freak athletes on his list, and some info about them.
WR Justin Hunter (6-4, 200) is a junior at Tennessee, who runs a 4.42-40, a 41.5 inch vertical, and an 11 foot plus broad jump. A mock draft at walterfootball.com has had him going to the Panthers.
WR Markus Davis (6-4, 228) is a senior at Virginia Tech, runs a 4.37-40 (Tech has a history of overly fast 40 times), and a 44 inch vertical. However, he only had 29 catches, for 499 yards, and 5 TD's in 2011, but he was playing behind senior WR's Danny Coale (the Cowboys #152 pick), and Jarrett Boykin (UDFA). If he has a real breakout senior season, he'll zoom up draft boards, but as of now he's the 44th ranked WR, and 437th player overall. If through injury or for some other reason he doesn't have a breakout season, the he might be a mid to late round steal.
DE Margus Hunt (6-8, 280) is a senior at SMU, from Estonia, who runs a 4.60-40 (4.80-40 at WF), and 35 to 45 bench reps.
DE/OLB Devin Taylor ( 6-6, 260, WF says 248) of South Carolina, a 4.69-40 (WF), a 37.5 inch vertical, and a 10-11 broad jump.
DE John Simon (6-2, 270) of Ohio St., runs a 4.60-40 (WF 4.80-40, Ohio St. also has a long history of a fast track), 38 bench reps, and a 10 foot plus broad jump.
DE James Gayle (6-4, 260) a junior at Virginia Tech, runns a 4.44-40 (once again, Tech has a long history of overly fast 40 times), and a 39.5 inch vertical.
RB Knile Davis (6-0, 225) a junior at Arkansas, runs a 4.33-40. He will almost certainly enter the 2013 draft, baring any injuries this season, he has a long injury history, with a broken right collarbone in 2007, and his left collarbone in 2010, with 3 broken ankles, the left in 2011, and the right ankle in 2008 and 2009.
WalterFootball.com had much slower 40 times for some of these players, so I included it.
