There's a grand scheme, we just don't see it yet. Ultimately that's what I have to think with the plethora of running backs brought into camp. Next in like is Armond Smith, a 26 year old RB who spent 2011 with the Cleveland Browns.
The #Panthers have claimed RB Armond Smith off waivers from Cleveland & have waived CB Reggie Sullivan.

Smith was a UDFA last season from Union College in Kentucky. He barely played during the 2011 regular season, but had an excellent preseason where he rushed for 192 yards at 6.2 yards per carry over the four games. Smith now enters a crowded backfield vying for the third RB spot where he'll compete with Josh Vauhan, Tauren Poole, Lyndon Rowells and Princeton McCarty- out of those players my bet is still on Poole to win the 3RB spot.
Competition makes everyone better, so there's no real reason to dislike the move- but it's curious how much energy the Panthers are putting into their RB role, moreso than other seemingly 'need' positions.
