Luke Kuechly is the highest draft pick to be signed thus far.
Continuing their faith in 9th overall pick Luke Kuechly the Carolina Panthers have agreed to terms on a 4 year, $12.58 million deal. This contract (as in all first round picks) is fully guaranteed, and contains the 5th year option which works much like a current franchise tag.
Clearly these deals aren't difficult to get done after last years CBA and consequential rookie salary cap, but it's important to note there was no delay, no shuffling by the Panthers to get the ink on paper. Thus far Kuechly is the highest draft pick signed, and the second Carolina finalized today after getting 7th round selection D.J. Campbell signed earlier today.
This continues a no-fuss, no-haggle approach to contracts and it's refreshing to see that while other teams have contractual disputes and holdouts to deal with their veterans the Panthers are moving quickly to ensure the business side is handled in an efficient manor. Now we get the fun wait until we see Kuechly, and the rest of the Panthers picks on the field.
