48. Jimmy Clausen, QB, Notre Dame
This is a great situation for Jimmy Clausen. Unlike Sam Bradford, he's not part of a rebuilding project. The Panthers are ready to win now, and all they were missing was a talented quarterback. If Clausen is half as good as Mel Kiper, Ron Jaworski, Steve Young, etc. think he is, the Panthers will be a perennial Super Bowl contender. (Pick Grade: A)
Any time you can grab a quarterback in the second round that was in contention to be a top-10 pick, you’re doing OK. Especially when the best quarterback in your franchise’s history was Jake Delhomme. Jimmy Clausen, 5 stars out of 5.
The Panthers' first selection of Notre Dame quarterback Jimmy Clausen caused an immediate stir, not just because QB was not originally one of the Panthers' need positions but also because many considered Clausen one of the top three quarterbacks— yet 47 other teams let him slip through their fingers.
((47 other teams? Lol!))
These are just the first three I ran into. I can probably dig up more, but I love looking up what people think a few years previous and then compare that to today's reality. Have fun with it guys.
