The road to being an icon and entertainer is paved with endorsements, appearances and cameos. Tonight Cam Newton takes the next step as he appears in his new Gatorade ad along with tennis player Maria Sharapova and US Women's soccer player Hope Solo. It's Cam who gets the biggest play though- showing him in the Panthers locker room before the game, and running onto the field.

I can't remember the last time we saw a member of the Carolina Panthers get this kind of attention. After the jump we'll look at the last time we saw members of our beloved Panthers grace the small screen on the path to stardom.

Okay... so maybe I was being a little facetious, but I will never pass up a chance to embed the Jake Delhomme/Steve Smith Bojangles commecial... EVER! If you want to see Cam's ad on TV it will start airing tonight, but if you're like me you'll be spending from now until Thursday watching this gem on repeat.
