The sad case of Lions RB Mikel Leshoure, a warning about drafting players with a history of problems

11 months ago Lions RB Mikel Leshoure was setting on top of the world, #57 draft pick, and then things started to go wrong. In the first week of training camp, he tore his left ACL, causing him to miss his whole 2011 rookie season. Now things have gone from bad to worse, with drug arrest in the last 2 months. On Feb. 18th he was pulled over, and cited for possession of marijuauna, but plead to the lesser charge of "using", and paid a fine. On March 12th he was caught again in a traffic stop, where the police claim that Leshoure tried to eat the marijuauna to hide it. This is a very sad story, because Leshoure was born in prison, while his mother was doing time for a drug conviction, and his father also did time for selling drugs. Leshoure may now have more time to recover from his ACL surgery, as he will probably be suspended by the NFL. This story should be a warning to all teams, and their fans about the dangers of drafting players with a history of problems.
