So pardon this absurd idea, but after reading some post today about who we should draft I thought to myself that last years first draft pic worked out so good that we should repeat it this year. With the 9th pick in the 2012 NFL draft the Carolina Panthers take.............Cameron Newton of the Carolina Panthers???? Just cause he's that good!!!
Would be a fun joke to play on Goodell.
Seriously though I started to think about Cam and the athlete that he is, and wondered if Cam were to play both ways, (he can you know cause he is Superman) or if he never played QB and came up through the collage ranks as a defensive player, given his present physical size, speed, and intangibles, what position would he play, and would he be elite? (I know- holy run on sentence)
Vote after the jump.
Would he be a weak side linebacker? Does he have the speed to be a corner? Would he have naturally bulked up and taken on a Julius Peppers type physique and been a freak at DE?
I believe that Cam's genetics and work ethic would have made him a first round freak of nature DE much like JP but with a work ethic that would have been far superior, and would be just as exciting to watch on Sundays as he is now.
Vote and let us know what you think.
What position does Cam play if he was a defensive player and would he play in the NFL or even be elite?
