Carolina Panthers 2012 Draft: Late Round Cornerback Prospect

Stay connected for news and updates

After taking a short break during the combine, I’m back on the trail looking to find some of the players that might be on the Panther’s radar in the later rounds of the draft. With that being said, let’s immediately get started by taking a look at another promising young prospect.

Before becoming an Aggie at Texas A&M, this cornerback was busy earning All-American status in the JUCO ranks at FortScottCommunity College. But things began to head downhill soon after he committed to the Aggies. Before his Junior season even started, he dislocated his shoulder and was forced to red-shirt. The following season, he was finally able to get a chance to show what he had, and in doing so, earned himself a spot on the All Big-12 second team. One look at his stats from 2010 and you can plainly see why he deserved such an honor. Not only did he play exceptionally well at the cornerback spot, but he finished the season as the 7th best kick returner in the nation.

Unfortunately, the injury bug bit him again as he was hobbled by a hamstring injury for most of his Senior season and only played in seven games as a result. Despite possessing the potential to be a shut down corner, this prospect will most likely be picked in the later rounds of the 2012 draft. This comes as no surprise when you realize his injury history, but make no mistake, this guy has big-time talent. After the jump, we’ll take a look at his stats while at A&M, his numbers from the combine, and watch a little film on this intriguing prospect.
