I thought it would be appropriate to shed some light on the poll results of my most recent article by posting a follow-up. After looking at the numbers more closely, I came away with a better understanding of how the CSR community feels about some of these prospects. Let’s examine the results for a few minutes.
Top Four Duos
|
1. DT Fletcher Cox and CB Janoris Jenkins |
20% |
|
2. WR Stephen Hill and CB Janoris Jenkins |
19% |
|
3. S Mark Barron and CB Janoris Jenkins |
17% |
|
4. OLB Zach Brown and Janoris Jenkins |
16% |
As you can see, the competition for the most popular duo was very close. I can see the logic of Cox and Jenkins. This makes so much sense because both of these guys would immediately challenge for the starting spots at their respective positions, and could very well find themselves starting by the time opening day comes around in September. I don’t believe the same could be said of Brown and Hill, unless, of course, injuries become prevalent. Barron, on the other hand, would be in the same category as Cox and Jenkins because of his potential to start from day one.
Most Popular Single Prospects

1. CB Janoris Jenkins |
72% |
|
2. S Mark Barron |
32% |
|
3. DT Fletcher Cox |

|
4. OLB Zach Brown |
30% |
|
5. WR Stephen Hill |
27% |
This was somewhat of a revelation to me. Obviously, CSR nation as a whole, isn’t fazed by any of Jenkins past indiscretions because he completely blew away the other four players in terms of how well-liked he is. I think most fans are willing to give prospects the benefit of the doubt when they are highly skilled, and this is certainly reflected in this poll. However, one must consider the potential problems that could arise when adding another cornerback with a troubled past (although Hogan’s past is child’s play compared to Jenkins). In other words, this can't become a trend, or else the Panthers may end up with some regrets after it's all said and done. Nevertheless, if anyone can accelerate the maturity levels of an immature man in his early twenties, Rivera can, and that's all we need to know.
