First I'd like to say I am new here and this is my first post. Big time
Panthers fan, love
Jonathan Stewart and Cam Newton.
I think Jonathan Stewart is madly underrated. I have seen opinions differ, from being worth a late first to being an worth a 5th or 6th round pick. I think Stewart can be a top five RB in the NFL if given the chance (yes, I know I sound a bit homer-ish).
Highlights
Stewart also has some pretty crazy stats that I have researched and crunched myself, that no one has said before (as far as I know). Here are some (remember, I am human so I might be wrong):
Jonathan Stewart has a career yards per touch average (CYPTA) of 5.2. Adrian Peterson has a CYPTA of 5.2.
Barry Sanders has a CYPTA of 5.3.
Jonathan Stewart was behind only the
Saints Darren Sproles in YPTA last year.
ProFootballFocus says Stewart was the most elusive back 2008-2010.
As you all know
we signed Mike Tolbert today. Tolbert is a lot like Stewart, can break tackles, good goal-line back, and can catch the ball well. Tolbert also played FB in college.
So speculation of trading Jonathan Stewart will start. I'd HATE it if we traded him for anything less than a first, heck I'd hate it if we traded him for just a first. I really hope we can re-sign Stewart to a deal. Best case for me is we sign Stewart to a deal, keep Williams and Tolbert, and cut Goodson. Then either get rid of Williams the next year or see if he is willing to take a pay-cut to stay in Carolina and with his buddy Stewart.
So what are your thoughts on what we should do with our RBs?
