The Panthers were one of only 13 teams who showed up at Missouri State's pro day on March 16, and I'm quite certain that the prize they were all seeking was wide receiver Jermaine Saffold. Come with me after the jump to learn more about this intriguing prospect.
The 6'0", 192 lb Saffold gave the teams that attended Missouri State's pro day their money's worth by posting a 4.36 forty and a 10' 3" broad jump. His performance at the Bears pro day was just the icing on the cake of what was a splendid career. With each passing season, Saffold was able to increase his statistical output, and managed to put a cherry on top of his career by averaging an impressive 20.3 yards per catch during his senior campaign.
Something tells me that the Panthers are intent on finding another receiver at a bargain price in the latter rounds. Not just any receiver. A dynamic receiver who has the ability to stretch the field in an offense that will continue to look for large chunks of yards from our big-armed quarterback.
Personally, I'd take him as high as the 6th round, but would prefer to wait until the 7th round. How about you, CSR? Take the time to watch Saffold's video, then let me know what you think in the poll and in the comment section that follows.
