Not to be outdone by those still covering the team, former beat writer Darin Gantt gave us some interesting insight into Jimmy Clausen's situation.
It's been reported that Clausen has a $923k roster bonus coming up this month. Not the case. Stay with me, gets a little complicated.

The 923k was a "one-time" bonus that he'd have triggered by hitting certain performance and play-time benchmarks. He didn't.

While this may not completely change Jimmy's situation with the team, it's at least one way to think about what could happen to him long term. Without a near $1 million bonus it's likely the best move for Carolina will be to keep him and see if they can improve his value and hope for a trade. There were rumors the Browns were interested in him around draft time, if they miss out on a QB during FA they might take a flier.

Think the organization are thrilled with their safety situation? It was announced tonight that the Panthers have a visit planned with former Baltimore Ravens safety Haruki Nakamura.

Nakamura primarily played ST for the Ravens as a gunner, however it is believed he has the potential to be much more if able to crack the starting lineup. This is the exact kind of Panthers signing that flies under the radar, but could yield quite a bit of value. It's important to note the former 6th round pick is just 25 years old.
