In our prior pulse check for Round 1, a commanding 40% of the 507 Panther General Managers desired an upgrade to the defensive line, with DT Dontari Poe (16%) winning out over DE Quinton Coples (13%) and DT Michael Brockers (11%) [as of March 14]. With eager anticipation we now hope Poe's size and freakish athletic ability serve as an immediate and long term anchor on the defensive front, plugging running lanes, opening holes for blitzing linebackers, and closing the pocket to disrupt the opponent's passing game.
tick..... tick..... tick...... It's time for pick #40. You are on the clock Hurney, and once again none of the NFL's remaining 31 teams wanted to trade up.
The following second round options are based on a collective review of multiple analyst mocks and projections, identifying talent that is most likely to be available for the Panthers in round 2. If a player was projected by most analysts as a late 2nd or 3rd rounder, they are likely not listed here as you are too wise to reach.I am also ruling out the obvious, as we don't need a 2nd round QB.
The pulse of the Panther fan base has already selected Dontari Poe in Round 1, thus take this into consideration when making your next selection. One team, one mission..... Super Bowl XLVII here we come!!!
