Syracuse DE Chandler Jones is meeting with the Carolina Panthers tomorrow.— NFL Draft Insider (@NFLDraftInsider) March 11, 2012
If you prescribe to the notion that the Panthers now do as they say and put their cards on the table then you have had the most pressing needs of the team laid out for you; they want an upgrade at under-tackle (Brockers) and now defensive end (Jones).
Aside from being the younger brother of UFC Champion Jon "Bones" Jones, Chandler is a speedy DE who totaled 4.5 sacks in 2011 after missing five games with a knee injury. I wrote a draft profile on him for SB Nation Atlanta that you can find here, and openly I'm not a huge fan. I would love the idea of Jon Jones on the Panthers sideline, but I can't help but feel there will be better defensive ends available in the second-third round (where it's projected Jones will be selected).
Nevertheless, we're now getting a clearer view of who/where the Panthers will be targeting during the draft and the overwhelming evidence points to getting a better pass rush.
