While scouts from every team were drooling over prospects that were showcasing their talents at big boy colleges like Clemson, Miami, and Nebraska on March 8th, the Panthers were one of only six known teams who felt inclined to send some representatives to Ohio University's pro day as well. Although Ohio had a handful of prospects who were showing off their abilities, I believe there were two prospects in particular that the Panthers had their eyes on: ILB Noah Keller and WR/KR Lavon Brazill. Let's take a look at the two for a moment.
As fate would have it, Keller was snubbed by decision makers who arrange the invitations for the NFL combine in Indianapolis. But that didn't stop him from putting on a clinic during his pro day on Thursday. At 6' 1", 242 lbs, he ran a 4.56 forty in the pouring rain, and further displayed his explosiveness by leaping 10 feet in the broad jump and 37 inches in the vertical. These numbers were certainly indicative of a prospect who should have had a chance to strut his stuff at the combine.
Brazill, on the other hand, received an invite to the combine, and he didn't disappoint. While there, he measured in at 5' 11", and was able to put up a respectable forty time of 4.48. Although Brazill isn't as physical as you would like in terms of blocking, he does have excellent hands, and can stretch the field with his above-average speed. He also would likely get a look as a kick returner because he was absolutely sensational at it early on in his college career. Join me after the jump for some stats and videos.
I wouldn't be surprised if one of these two guys ends up at the Panthers training camp this summer. I actually wouldn't mind picking up either one of these guys in one of the latter rounds of the upcoming draft in April. They both scream with the potential to develop into starters one day. Let me know what you think in the poll that follows.
