Why does the stadium look like its ready for the Steelers?

There is a lot of gold trim in the stands. Just really seems out if place.

Don't count Charlotte out

This year is crucial. No matter how you feel about politics, if Charlotte handles the Democratic National Convention well this year, that’s a major event to put on the resume. The only other issues are hotels and activities to do down town.

by aceofsween on Feb 5, 2012 7:24 PM EST up reply actions

I dunno if you live in Charlotte or not

But the area around Uptown isn’t very large. That’s the biggest problem. You can’t walk to all the big areas of interest in Charlotte. It’s too spread out.

And Indy definitely has more hotel space. That’s the biggest strike against Charlotte I think.

by aceofsween on Feb 5, 2012 7:30 PM EST up reply actions

Yeah I live in Charlotte

I know we need more hotel space. I’m just hoping the Democratic National goes well to make the city look good. I love Charlotte as a place to live, but I could see how it might be a difficult sell as a place to attract tons of travelers.

by JDeLong42 on Feb 5, 2012 7:40 PM EST up reply actions

True

But you could argue that even though it was a free play, if they made it with 12 they would still make the same play with 11, in that case it would still mostly benefit the Giants by making the penalty

by Curtis Perkins on Feb 5, 2012 10:08 PM EST up reply actions

that doesn't matter...there's no exception to the rule about putting time back on the clock

The rule is the same in the first 2 minutes of the game, and in the last 20 seconds of the game.

Which i understand.

But what Im saying is the Giants greatly benefited from this penalty. Even though it was a free play for the Patriots, the Giants still had the obvious advantage by having more players on the field, the only real way this would help the Patriots is if they committed a TO. Even without the penalty, I still think the Giants win, but free play or not it severely disadvantaged the Patriots.

The outcome won’t change, but i think it deserves discussion

by Curtis Perkins on Feb 5, 2012 10:22 PM EST up reply actions

I know I'm playing a what if game here.

But what if that extra defender on the field happened to be covering a receiver that otherwise would have been wide open way down the field. All Im saying is I think this type of penalty, especially in a 2 minute situation, where the time you have makes all the difference in the world could greatly change the outcome of the game.

by Curtis Perkins on Feb 5, 2012 10:36 PM EST up reply actions

What if didn't happen. The Giants gained no benefit from the 12th man.

The Giants did benefit though.

There was 17seconds left when the play started and the Patriots where on the 40 something ish(I dont recall exactly where)When the play ended and the penalty was enforced, the Patriots only gained 5 yards but lost lost 8 seconds. 8 seconds doesn’t seem like much but in the final 2 when every second is extremely important thats a ton.

I know its a free play for the Patriots but that doesn’t mean that those 12 men that the Giants have on the field stopped playing, this caused a mismatched in favor of the Giants. You cant honestly tell me a offense has the same chance going against 12men instead of 11

by Curtis Perkins on Feb 5, 2012 10:55 PM EST up reply actions   1 recs

No they didn't. The pass was incomplete.

If there would have been 11 men on the field, the play would have still been an incomplete pass with the same time off the clock. The Patriots actually had the advantage as they gained five yards on the play.

Right the pass was incomplete

because its harder for an offense to move the ball against 12 than it is 11. The patriots have a better chance to make a play if that 12th man wasnt on there. With only 17seconds left the patriots aren’t going for 5-10 yard outs, they are look for 15-50 yard plays. You can do a 5 yard out in 4 seconds, it takes time for those long plays to develop, thats why those 8 seconds hurt the patriots more than the 5 yards helped. It’s possible that the extra defender would be the difference between whether that pass was complete or incomplete. This hurt the patriots.

All in all I am just saying that IMO that in this type of penalty, especially when the down its self is being replayed that in the final two minutes that the time should be added back on also.

by Curtis Perkins on Feb 5, 2012 11:35 PM EST up reply actions

The Giants

Could’ve thrown 40 players out there on defense until the last play to make sure the Patriots couldn’t score. Give up the 5 yards, but you kill a lot of time.

by JDeLong42 on Feb 5, 2012 11:39 PM EST up reply actions

The pass was incomplete because Brady threw a bad pass.

It had nothing to do with how many men were on the field.

You can’t change the rules because of a “what if” that didn’t happen.

And also, if they would have played defense before, they wouldn't have needed a touchdown.

Also, if Brady wouldn’t have forced a safety in the first quarter, they wouldn’t have needed a touchdown. You can’t blame the loss on those 8 seconds.

I honestly don't think they would still have won either way.

But what I am saying is that the Giants benefited from have 12 men. Btw a couple post up you actually agree with me. Ctrl F ‘12 men New York" you’ll see a post by Newsinz and the post under it you say "still takes the time off the clock and only gives them 5 yards’ and then “it’s worth it in the end, lol” So you actually agree with me right there. Like JDeLong42 says the giants throw out 40 men, the Patriots have no chance to score and it eats clock, obviously the smart play would be to spike it really fast every down there to gain yards and not lost time. The giants had a clear advantage there, in that situation you have to take shots town field and that takes time.

by Curtis Perkins on Feb 6, 2012 12:00 AM EST up reply actions

Btw

Im saying the smart play with 40 d on the field is to spike because its so obvious there is too many players, 12 men is hard to catch but still provides an advantage to the D

by Curtis Perkins on Feb 6, 2012 12:06 AM EST up reply actions

Last Thing

Im not really trying to argue the play, I’m trying to argue the rule, because i truly believe that the only chance the patriots had to win in this situation is to go deep, but with the extra man the patriots had a smaller chance to make a play down field than they did without him and since in this type of situation the amount of time is everything, the giants actually benefited from this penalty.

by Curtis Perkins on Feb 6, 2012 12:23 AM EST up reply actions

They're not going to change the rule.

There’s no need to change the rule. If the Patriots could play defense they would only have had to be in field goal range to win the game. That’s their fault, not the rule’s fault.

I thought the Steelers-Arizona game was far more compelling

Even though I still think the Steelers had some players wearing black and white stripes that day.

I did feel bad when I looked at the Pats owner's face and the whole ordeal with his wife's death.

Its more exciting watching a game being close and both teams fighting til the end

Just went and took a look at open thread on Pats Pulpit....

The Pats lost,

But won’t go away. They’re only one serious deep threat WR from being right back in the Super Bowl.

Just when I thought you couldn't be any dumber, you go and do something like this... AND TOTALLY REDEEM YOURSELF!

And some

Decent secondary players, maybe a good DE too. We saw Randy moss didn’t make that big of a difference.

I was telling some friends

If they can get a standout #1 Wide Receiver from this draft like Mohamed Sanu or Kendall wright and some good defense. they might be pretty good.

Yeah that's a hypothetical and easier said than done but the question that I have on my mind is...

How does this loss affect Tom Brady?

I can't believe Patriots fans

Are saying this is the end of the Brady era and calling him a choke artist and suggesting he be benched for Mallett and saying Welker is garbage and they’d be better off to let him walk.

The madness going on at the patriots sbnation blog is hilarious

I can’t believe a lot of them are blaming this loss completely on Brady.
Yeah, he threw a stupid interception and a stupid grounding that resulted in a safety. But the rest of his team did not stand up.
My favorite plays were the Manningham catch and the TD by Bradshaw. He realized right before he crossed the endzone that they simply let him score LOL. It was a priceless moment.

Weirdest ending to a SB ever IMO… I’ve never seen a team allow a TD like that before, especially in a SB. And that final Hail Mary, easily could been caught by Gronk had he been a step closer. Good game with a decent result.

WOW. I just came from the Pats blog and it's pure madness.

The guy posting the gay porn and penis pics is a major douche-bag troll.

I just saw that

Wow. It’s crazy over there. Classy move by Jets fans trolling and making life hard on them after what has to be a crushing loss

Hey guys! I watched the Super Bowl at a friend’s house this year! Good game! Fuck those Patriots! Go Giants!
