Dan Connor is a free agent, so he can't be

Yeah
I don’t question the editors much, but we should at least have things that are factually correct on the front page.

There's like two errors
And i don’t think they got in the way of all the other points he was making. It’s a mock draft, it’s not going to be perfect

I Love Picks 4-7, But I'm Not Fully Sold On Brockers & Curry, Maybe A DE/DT Combo & A CB In The 1st & 2nd Round
I fear Manning and Schwartz might be gone before the 5th and 6th round.
The Panthers traded their 3rd round pick for TE Greg Olsen.
We cant trade Connor
Id like to keep Thomas Williams, good ST player and decent player with a high motor.
Look, I know people love making these kind of posts
But if you’re going to, can you please put some time into them to make sure they’re accurate and not full of spelling errors? And this isn’t just directed at you supercam, because there have been other posts with the same problems.
As others have said, Connor is a free agent, so we can’t trade him. And as PanthersRoar said, we don’t have a third round pick because we traded it for Olsen. Plus, I have a hard time believing that we’d be able to resign all of those guys with our current cap situation.
Plus, is it really that difficult to spell the players names correctly? I can understand one or two typos, but several of the names on your depth chart are misspelled. All I’m asking is for a little time to make these posts worth reading. When I start to see multiple factual errors early in the post, I generally just don’t even bother to read the rest of the post.
He said in the beginning
he was mocking us trading back with our 2nd rounder and picking up a 2nd & 3rd. He got the extra 3rd rounder from the Eagles in his mocked trade which yall pointed out isn’t possible. That being said, this article was much easier to read than those last two or three like this….yikes.
I’d be alright with this draft though. Still on the fence about taking Brockers and would probably do my draft a bit differently but I wouldn’t be opposed to this depending on who else is available. Taking out the 3rd rounder that shouldn’t be there I think I’d go:
1st – Martin or Reiff
2nd – Crick (almost went Minnifield here)
3rd – Bruce Irvin
I picked Crick & Irvin for their value (at the bottom of the 2nd & 3rd rounds) and versatility in multiple schemes. Could just as easily be Poe/Ta’amu & Sean Spence. Who knows? I guess it makes it more exciting this way
"One step at a time"
GIVE THE GUY A BREAK...
It is totally impossible to conduct an accurate mock draft, at least after the 2nd pick… Other than a couple of errors concerning contract status, etc, his draft is just as good as anyone else’s… Go ahead and take pot shots at him… Then post your own mock… Then, after draft day, his draft will look just like yours, which is to say, not accurate at all…
Calm down buddy
I said in my post this wasn’t all directed at him. There have been several of this type of post recently, and some of them look like the people posting didn’t even bother to proofread their posts once before posting them. Furthermore, notice that I didn’t address his mock draft whatsoever. Nor did I take pot shots as him, as nothing I said was personal – because this wasn’t specifically directed at him.
In fact, the point of my post wasn’t to attack anyone – quite the opposite. I’m asking people to take their time when they post things so that they are accurate. I want to read other peoples posts and contribute in the discussion, but like I said, when there are a lot of errors in a post early on I tend to take the rest with a grain of salt. And I’m sure I’m not the only one who does so. Sometimes people just need to take an extra 10 minutes to re-read what they wrote before they hit post. That’s all I was suggesting.
conner walks, but
i like the looks of that right there. also feel we need a punt returner/scatback, and i’m pimpin’ jeff demps in the fifth or so. would be nice if we could bring in a couple of faces. maybe laron landry? i’d like him to be our top target.
also, don't be surprised to see wharton go
and we go into next season with schwartz and hangartner at guard. he makes $8 mil next year.
i wouldnt be completely surprised at wharton being let go
But if he does we’re drafting decastro at guard. Can’t see us rolling with piggy and schwartz.

Demps isn't goin to be in the draft
He decided to aim for the 2012 summer olympics instead of joining the NFL Draft but I think the other Gator Chris Rainy would be a good scatback/returner.

I don't know can Pilares run a 4.25 in the 40?
But yur right they are definetly very similar but I feel like Rainy is a lil better athelete, thats just my humble opinion though

Pilares Is 1 5/8 Inches Taller Than Rainey & 21 Pounds Heavier, & He Ran A 4.42-40
Rainey is projected by nfldraftscout.com to run a 4.33-40, but he may be too fragile to play RB in the NFL (Darren Sproles is 5-6, 190), and have to be just a WR/returner.

For the most part this was a solid draft and offseason, even though it flies in the face of our current cap situation.
Also, I’m not sold on Brockers.

if we draft a qb that low i dont think he'll automatically usurp DA
For me anderson is a very capable back up. I understand the need to back up cam with somebody who has a similar skill set but we’ve got bigger needs. I’m interested by vinny curry but not sure if he’ll last that long. I also kinda feel that everyone is falling in love with mitchell schwartz simply because we have his brother. He’s decent but for me I don’t know that he’s coming into this team and making that rt position his. I don’t think he’s that good. There’s a need at rt (potentially) but it needs to be addressed solidly with a higher pick if we’re gonna do it. Do not want another year where our o-line is let down by the right tackle position.

Schwartz had a damn good Senior Bowl week
From CBS:
01/25/2012 – 2012 SENIOR BOWL WEDNESDAY: OT Mitchell Schwartz, California: Overshadowed in the Pac-12 due to the presence of two elite prospects in USC’s Matt Kalil and Stanford’s Jonathan Martin, Schwartz has stood out this week due to his size (6-5, 317), long arms (33 1/8"), strength and surprising agility. He’s held up well at right tackle in pass blocking drills and has done a nice job of sealing off defensive linemen in the running game and has been able to get to the second level, as well. Schwartz has been especially impressive in pass blocking drills, where he’s repeatedly stoned Penn State’s Jack Crawford and Virginia’s Cam Johnson, among others. – Rob Rang, NFLDraftScout.com
They’ve got him listed as a 2-3 round pick now, so I doubt he’ll last to the 6th round. If we can pick up a late 2nd or a 3rd in a trade back, that’d put us in the approximate range to grab him.

this is interesting...
I haven’t seen much info from the senior bowl so thanks for the update. Fair play then, need to do some more research on him.

Will it be reaching to pick up Schwartz with our 2nd round pick at #40-41?
Therein lies the question. If he has a good enough pro day and combine to capitalize on that recommendation from the Senior Bowl, would it be possible for him to potentially move up into late 1st-early 2nd round range?
We'll have to see after the Combine.
But right now, I wouldn’t take him with our second round pick. Now if we get another one, say from the Jets or the Bengals, then absolutely.

dominique davis
i hope we get him, perfect backup for cam
I like this quite a bit
But Connor isn’t tradeable.
"What do you want to say to those critics now?"
"Just sit back and watch the show." -Cam Newton
I don't see that trade happening either
if it does, suddenly we need to look at MLB in this draft. This year needs to be about filling holes and adding depth….not creating needs.

I like the draft
(Conner trade issue aside) If we waited until the 3rd to get a CB, I would like Heyward. I think Ilkoa and Manning would be solid picks in their respective rounds as well. Trading down in the second is a very realistic option. I like Curry at DE, but I wonder if he would be too similar of a player to Hardy, all pass rush and little run defense.

i dont agree with the D. Davis pick
I go to ECU and have seen every one of his games and he’s just ok. He certainly couldn’t be the back up yet. I would give him a shot as an undrafted free agent.

Considering the team around him
He was great. Torched a top 5 USC defense as well.

Umm, no
I like the idea of a flamboyant t-shirt maker as our backup DE but ill take GREG hardy instead. Plus all the tape i see of brokers is him getting stood up. I’ll take stills outta penn state. or kirkpatrick. the rest of the draft i dont care about
Wow.. Guess later picks never turn out to be squat eh

Another head scratcher front page
Waters it down, should have fp material mainly be the true writers (aka James, Jaxon, etc with some exceptions), but this isn’t even correct. I liked the read and thoughts, but just not as fp

Why don't you just comment on the posts
Instead of becoming a front page worthy judge. Just scroll down the page further if you wanna see what else is up. It really doesn’t matter where a post is located.
Well it kinda does
For instance nonpanther fans or first time visitors might see this on the front page and think man I’m not reading that they can’t even spell.

Depth on defense
I know our defense may be in for an overhaul, but to have 4 rookie starters and Ron Edwards who didn’t even play all of last year is a little scary. I like the draft other than the QB at the end. I’ve seen him play up close this year and he plays in a spread option offense, similar to what we do and even the pistol sometimes, but I think I’d rather have someone with a little more arm about the same amount of leg and football savvy. That would be Russell Wilson out of Wisconsin (formerly N.C. State)
Right.
I’d rather pick Wilson in the 5th. That way, we have someone who could come in if needed and at least keep us remotely competitive. The real reason for doing it, is in 3-4 years other teams will start to get curious about Wilson. He will have trade value.
We need a nose tackle.
